Clare au Canada - BC Journal

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Right now I’m packing for my trip to Kamloops by bus. I decided to stop and look at our maps once more.

I read one of the maps to myself. It was B.C. Thompson Okanagan, page 1 of 1. “The Thompson Nicola, follows the Trans Canada Highway in the east from the holiday lakes of the Shuswap and on to the city of Kamloops, where the North and South Thompson Rivers meet…blah blah blah.”

Oops, got to go. I can’t find my bus ticket….

Later… Hah, found my bus ticket. Greyhound.

Now what to do? Should I phone Kate, should I e-mail Kate, or should I send Kate a letter. Definitely not a letter. That’s too slow. Not a phone call, that’s too expensive. An e-mail, that’s good.

Oh, yeah. About Kate. Kate’s one of my friends I met at Camp Homewood near where I live in Campbell River. We were good friends and we enjoyed many games of ping pong. One of us always had to go and get the ping pong ball after it fell off the table. It was usually me.

Kate’s from Kamloops. And now I’m going to go see her, as the first part of my trip.

Kate told me to pack my jeans. I don’t know why, but she said something about cows…

Dear Diary;

I’m sorry that I haven’t written in you for a while. But about the Cowboy Festival, which just so happened to be the thing about the cows. Sunday, March 9th, at the Calvary Temple I went to the Kids Special. There was stories, poems and trick roping. When it was Kate’s turn, apparently, she accidentally roped one of the lasso coaches. It was hilarious. I laughed so hard, I could hardly hold the rope in my hands.

ONTARIO
Ontario’s traffic: Note to self. Never, ever look out the window at the traffic.
Change that note: Always look at the traffic. It’s way interesting. Ontario traffic is horrible, people are crazy and they drive their cars as if they don’t have a single clue how to drive. Especially around Toronto Airport.

At least I’m here with Momo in the Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls, in Niagara Falls.

Peacefully sitting watching the Falls, writing in this particular diary. Shuta wound up his car and raced it across the floor. It hit my foot.

Shuta, is Momo’s (my best friend and pen pal) little bother. Okay, diary, I’m going to put you down for a few minutes or hours, or something

Later: Dear Diary, I’m right now sitting on a bench right next to the pool, as Shuta and Momo are waiting for me. We are looking out at the Falls by night, which are lit up by different coloured light bulbs.

At Marineland I went on Dragon Mountain which is the world’s largest steel roller coaster. It was the first roller coaster ride of my life. It was the best!
