Tatiana au Canada - Journal 1

Dear diary

I am in Iqualuit, the capital of Nunavut. It is very cold right now. It's -5 degrees celcius, and snowing. I had to wear this big, poofy jacket. Iqualuit is at the bottom of Baffin Island which is the biggest Island in Canada. It is huge! In Iqualuit there is a museum. In the museum it said that there was an airport with a runway that is 8,000 feet and there was a picture of the long run way. The next day, I went to see a real Inukshuk. They are very huge rock statues. They look a bit like people. I felt like an ant compared to them! Most of the poeple are Inuits. So most of the signs were in English and Inuktituk. There were some real funny words and there was a little girl who spoke Inuktituk to me. I learned that hungry is "Karpok," and gold is, "Kanosak". But that is all for now. I have to catch the plane. I am going to the Yukon. Then back home to Campbell River on Vancouver Island. I hope it is going to be a lot warmer there, than in Nunavut. I'm going to go whale watching and I am hoping to see lots of different kinds of whales.
